Orangenkinder was founded by Verena, a mother who was looking for baby shoes that were both ecological and beautiful.
All Orangenkinder slippers are manufactured under strict, socially fair and ecological conditions in our factory in Bavaria - made in Germany. For our slippers we only use vegetable-tanned, chrome-free leather from Germany, by IVN-certified tanners. This ensures unique wearing comfort and allows small children's feet to feel like walking barefoot - a second, protective skin for sensitive children's feet without restricting growth. Incidentally, the majority of our slippers are ECARF-certified and therefore ideal for allergy sufferers.

We try to avoid waste as much as possible during production. Leftover leather is processed into doll shoes or key chains. Cardboard boxes are reused whenever possible, or where possible stamped into cardboard hangers. There is no superfluous packaging.

Orangenkinder slippers made of leather and boiled wool have been made by hand and with great attention to detail for almost 18 years in Franconia. We pay strict attention to sustainable production processes and the use of ecologically sound materials, especially leather and wool from Orangenkinder. The production is located in Bavaria, in the Franconian town of Oberreichenbach, near Herzogenaurach. A former PUMA hall is the location of our manufactory and has become the premises for our production. We strictly ensure that our Orangenkinder items are manufactured under socially fair criteria and ecologically sustainable environmental aspects of leather and shoe production. Orangenkinder shoes made of leather sit on your nimble feet like a second skin. And just as your skin is different for all of you, our Orangenkinder leather shoes are also different from each other.

No Orangenkinder shoe is like the other. As are you. By choosing natural, organic leather, we experience enormous ecological advantages in the manufacture of our products - which you can also see and feel. Our leather is not re-embossed, it appears as nature and the environment shape it. No chemical sealing by plastics, no adulteration and therefore a natural raw material. However, this also allows you to see features on the leather surface that occur naturally, such as mosquito bites, scars and the natural surface texture of different body areas. For example, smooth leather is more likely to be found in the back area of ​​the animal and grained leather in the flex areas on the belly and the joints.

Our leather is also fully compostable! You could throw it in your compost and it would dissolve after some time.
 

Orangenkinder shoes impress, among other things, with the large selection of bright colors and motifs. The colors of our leather are synthetic and harmless. Unfortunately, vegetable colors would not be lightfast and would quickly fade when worn under the influence of light.

But not only our wide range of colors benefits from this ecological approach, but also your health and tolerance towards our products. When choosing our raw materials in production, we pay strict attention to environmental compatibility. The leather of our Orangenkinder is regularly and critically checked for heavy metals and other ingredients.

A little tip: Since our Orangenkinder leather is not treated with harsh chemicals and sealed, it is quite possible that the leather will discolour a little when it comes into contact with moisture. Therefore, please also pay attention to the corresponding instructions for cleaning your treasures, so that Orangenkinder have a maximum longevity. Link cleaning.
