With the Sea Friends Activity Gym you bring the underwater world to life. The play mat is about 81 x 81 x 43 cm, with a large, soft mat that is machine washable. Hanging from the play arch are 7 removable toys that stimulate the senses. The seahorse can serve as a cuddly toy and as a support pillow for tummy time, and the turtle's lights spark your little one's curiosity. Your baby can play lying down, sitting or on the tummy, so the mat grows with their development. You can also take the toys off to play with them separately.
The Rhythm of the Reef Play Gym is a tropical play mat of about 81 x 81 x 45 cm with lights and classical melodies. The electronic toy Neptune has two modes and a softly glowing belly. The lights and 8 classical melodies are activated by your baby's movements, or play continuously for more than 20 minutes. On the arch there is a 3D crinkly palm tree, a baby-safe mirror, a starfish toy, cards with real images and an octopus bead toy. For tummy time there is a plush fish-shaped pillow. The play mat folds up and runs on 3 AAA batteries, which are sold separately. Wipe the mat and toys clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.
In the first weeks your baby mainly looks at the colours, lights and moving toys overhead. Around 3 months your little one starts reaching and batting at the toys, and discovers that something happens: a light switches on or music plays. That is cause and effect in practice. Put your baby on their tummy regularly too, with the support pillow under the chest. That makes tummy time much more fun and helps your little one strengthen the muscles in the neck, shoulders and back. Later your baby sits on the mat and plays with the separate toys.
You can also take the Sea Friends toys and Neptune from the Rhythm of the Reef along separately. According to Baby Einstein you can attach them to a playpen or car seat, for example, so your little one has something familiar to look at away from the mat too. Only do this when your little one is awake and you are there. That way your baby has their favourite sea creatures close by at grandma's, on holiday or on a car journey.
The nicest thing is to discover together. Lie down next to your baby on the floor, point at the sea creatures and name what you see and hear. Sing along with the melodies and respond to your little one's sounds. That way the play mat becomes a place where your baby not only plays, but also connects and feels safe. Alternate with calm moments without lights and music, so your baby doesn't get overstimulated.
Always supervise your baby on the play mat and don't let your little one sleep on it: put your baby in a cot for naps. Don't hang toys in the cot while your baby sleeps. Only do tummy time when your little one is awake and you are there. Keep batteries out of reach of children and check that the battery compartment is closed properly. Check the play arch and toys regularly for loose parts or damage.
The Sea Friends mat is machine washable; take the toys off first. For the Rhythm of the Reef, wipe the mat and toys clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, without immersing them. Remove the batteries from Neptune if you won't be using the play mat for a while. Let everything dry well before your baby plays on it again.
