A squeaky toy is fun to play with together. Let the animal squeak "hello", hide it under a cloth and let it reappear, or name the animal and the sound. That turns a simple toy into a moment of connection. During tummy time, too, a squeaky toy can help: place it just in front of your baby and make it squeak, so your little one lifts their head to look.
When choosing a squeaky toy, a few things are useful to keep in mind. First look at the size: a slim or small toy is easier for your baby to pick up than a large one. Also look at the material. Soft fabric feels pleasant and is nice to cuddle, cotton feels a little more natural. Pay attention to the sound too: a soft squeak is exciting enough for most babies. Don't squeeze it too close to your child's ear. And of course looks count: a cheerful animal with a face invites play and chatter.
Because squeaky toys are small and light, they are easy to take along in the changing bag. At the doctor's, in the waiting room, at the grandparents' or on a train journey, a familiar toy is nice to distract your little one for a moment.
