A little milk on the chin, a sip that comes back up or drool from the first teeth: as a parent you always keep muslin squares within reach. At Tiny Giggles you'll find muslin squares from Meyco, in packs of 3, made of 100% muslin cotton. They measure 30 x 30 cm, are suitable from birth and washable at 40 °C. Below you can read everything you can use them for, how many you need and how to keep them soft.
Each set contains three 30 x 30 cm muslin squares. They are extra soft on delicate baby skin, absorb moisture well and dry quickly. Choose from four prints:
Muslin squares are also called burp cloths, and they are incredibly versatile:
Muslin is an airy woven cotton that absorbs moisture fast and dries quickly. It's soft and breathable, and gets softer with every wash. That makes it ideal for everything baby-related: from muslin squares and wash mitts to large cloths and swaddles. More under muslin swaddles and burp cloths.
It's in the first weeks that you use the cloths most. Newborn babies regularly bring up a little milk after feeding, and a soft cloth over your shoulder or under the chin catches it straight away. Always keep a few ready where you feed, so you don't have to search when your hands are full. They're also handy during the first days at home for visitors and helpers. Leave a few on the sofa and in the nursery too, so there's always one within reach.
Around six months many babies start drooling. A dry cloth is lovely then to gently dab the chin and neck, so the skin doesn't get irritated. Combine it with a drool bib for the days when it's extra heavy.
You use them several times a day. That's why many parents keep six to ten at home: a few where you feed, a few on the changing table, one in the changing bag and one in the pram. That way there's always one within reach. A few 3-packs and you're sorted. Choose different prints, so you can see at a glance which cloths belong in the changing bag and which stay at home.
The Meyco muslin squares are washable at 40 °C. Wash them before first use, so they become softer and more absorbent. Don't use too much detergent and preferably no fabric softener, as it reduces absorbency. Let the cloths air dry or hang them over a rack. Muslin can look a bit crinkled after washing; that's normal and doesn't affect use. No ironing needed, which saves you time.
Always put a few muslin squares in the changing bag. They take up almost no space and are handy for all sorts: a spilled bottle, a sticky hand or as a soft mat during changing. Keep used cloths in a separate bag until you're home, so the rest of your bag stays clean and fresh.
Keep clean cloths folded in a fixed place, for example in a changing table basket on the changing table or in a drawer next to the chair where you feed. That way they're quickly to hand, at night too.
Muslin squares go nicely with other baby items. For bath time there are wash mitts and washcloths and baby hooded towels, for teething drool bibs and for first bites mealtime bibs. More care products are under baby care.
Muslin squares are meant for when you're there. In the first year, don't leave them loose in the cot when your baby sleeps. That keeps the sleep space safe and empty. Use a baby sleeping bag for sleep.
Muslin squares are one of the handiest baby gifts: parents use them every day and never have enough. Combine a few 3-packs with a hooded towel or a bib, or put together a box via create a gift box. We are happy to gift-wrap your present.
