Why a bowl with suction?
As soon as your little one wants to eat by themselves, all sorts of things end up on the floor. A suction bowl sticks to the table or the high chair tray, so your child cannot simply throw it or knock it over. That way they can calmly practise scooping and grabbing. Suction holds best on a smooth, dry and clean surface, such as a table of glass, plastic or varnished wood. Press the bowl down firmly before you fill it. Want to release it? Lift the little tab on the edge of the suction base. On a wooden table with grain or a textured placemat, suction holds less well.

Why silicone?
Silicone is soft, flexible and unbreakable. If the bowl falls on the floor, it does not break and there are no sharp edges. Food grade silicone is suitable for contact with food and contains no BPA. It does not get hot on the outside like some other materials, and it feels nice in little hands. Silicone can sometimes take on the smell or colour of strongly spiced food. This usually disappears if you let the bowl air out or put it in the sun.
Eating safely with your child
Always stay with your child while they eat, and let them sit upright, for example in a high chair. Heating food in the microwave? Stir it well and check the temperature before serving, because food can heat unevenly in the microwave. Start with soft and mashed food, and offer coarser pieces when your child is ready.
Cleaning
Wash a new bowl before first use in warm water with a little washing-up liquid. The nuuroo, Skip Hop and Tigex bowls are dishwasher safe. Wash the Mushie and Lässig bowls by hand in warm soapy water. Let the bowl dry well before putting it away. Do not use a scouring pad, so the surface stays smooth and the suction keeps working well.
Complete the table
A baby bowl works best together with the rest of the tableware. Tips for relaxed mealtimes
Learning to eat is an adventure, and a bit of mess is part of it. Put a small portion in the bowl and add more when your child wants it. Let your child explore with their hands or a spoon, even if it is not tidy yet. Eat together at the table as much as possible: children copy a lot of what you do. And do not make it too long: a meal of fifteen to twenty minutes is often enough for a young child.
