Jumping in muddy puddles, picnics with George and adventures with Mummy and Daddy Pig: for many toddlers and preschoolers, Peppa Pig is the hero of the day. With the Peppa Pig backpacks, your child takes Peppa to daycare, playgroup or reception class. At Tiny Giggles you'll find two pink 3D backpacks with Peppa on the front, with just enough room for a small lunchbox and a cup. Below you can read the differences and how to adjust the backpack properly.
The two Peppa Pig backpacks
- Peppa Pig Pretty Little Things (3D) Backpack: pink, 31 x 25 x 12 cm, with a 3D design of Peppa on the front.
- Peppa Pig Strong Together (3D) Backpack: pink, 32 x 26 x 11 cm, also with a 3D Peppa.
Both backpacks are made of 100% polyester and have a main compartment, adjustable shoulder straps and a loop at the top for hanging them up. A small lunchbox and a cup fit easily in the main compartment.
Why a 3D backpack?
On a 3D backpack the character sticks out a little, so Peppa really seems to come off the bag. Children love it: it feels as if Peppa herself is coming along. An eye-catching bag is also easy to find on the coat hook among all the others.
For which age?
The Peppa Pig backpacks are about 31 to 32 cm high. That's a nice size for toddlers and preschoolers: big enough for a morning or a day's things, but not so big that the bag hangs down to the bottom. Children in reception and year 1 like them too. Adjust the straps so the backpack sits high on the back, with the bottom roughly at waist height.
What goes in?
- Daycare: a spare set of clothes, a nappy, a cuddly toy and a snack.
- Playgroup: a cup, a fruit box and a drawing to take home.
- Reception: a small lunchbox, a drink bottle and a PE kit.
- Sleepover at grandma and grandpa's: pyjamas, a toothbrush and a favourite book.
Keep the bag light so your child can carry it. A matching box is under lunchboxes for girls or lunchboxes, and a bottle under water bottles.
The first day at daycare or school
A backpack of their own with a familiar character can help on an exciting first day. Pack the bag together and let your child practise with the zip at home. Put a small cuddly toy inside so your child has something from home with them.
Many children find saying goodbye a little easier this way. Practise the morning routine a few times at home too: shoes on, coat on, backpack on and off you go. A familiar routine gives toddlers a sense of security.
Name in the bag
At daycare, several pink bags often hang side by side. Write your child's name inside the backpack or hang a name label on the loop, so the bag doesn't get lost.
That way the carers also know straight away whose bag it is.
Carrying the bag themselves
Toddlers and preschoolers often want to do everything themselves, including carrying their own bag. A backpack in the right size helps. Let your child put the backpack on and take it off and open and close the zip. Put things they need to grab themselves, like a cup or a snack, at the top.
This way your child learns step by step to be independent, and is proud when it works. Praise them when they manage the zip on their own.
On a day out
A Peppa Pig backpack isn't just for daycare or school. Take it to the petting farm, the playground or a day at grandma's. Pack a bottle of water, a fruit box and a raincoat, and your child is set for the day. Just like Peppa, who loves an adventure, even if it's only to the nearest muddy puddle.
For all Peppa fans
The Peppa Pig backpacks are pink, but Peppa has fans of all kinds. Boys who love Peppa and her little brother George often wear the bag happily too. Let your child choose: a backpack that makes them happy is one they'll take along every day.
Care
Wipe the backpack clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, and let it dry open. Be careful with the 3D character: dab marks away rather than scrubbing. Remove crumbs and empty wrappers every day so the bag stays fresh.
Check the inside of the bag now and then for forgotten fruit or a leaking cup.

Tip: the Pretty Little Things is slightly deeper (12 cm), the Strong Together slightly taller and wider (32 x 26 cm). Both suit young children well, so let the design decide.
