A sturdy box with a cool animal or a rocket on it makes lunch break more fun straight away. At Tiny Giggles you will find lunchboxes for boys from Skip Hop, Carl Oscar, Prêt and Sass & Belle: from a lunch kit with a snack container to a lunchbox with a built-in cooling pack. Most are suitable from 3 years and free from BPA. Below we list the models and you can read which box suits your son.

Skip Hop Zoo Little Kid Lunch Kit

The Zoo Little Kid Lunch Kit from Skip Hop is a complete set: a 700 ml lunchbox and a separate snack container with lid. The clips have fun shapes that match the animal on the lid, and they open easily, so your child can eat independently. The lid is leak-proof and the kit is free from BPA, PVC and phthalates. Suitable from 3 years. There are eight characters for boys: Bee, Giraffe, Koala, Crocodile, Pug, Robot, Rocketship and Fox. The lunch kit also fits in the Zoo Lunchie lunch bag from the same collection.

Carl Oscar N'ice Box and Sandwich Box

Carl Oscar makes two types of lunchbox:

• N'ice Lunch Box Kids (lime with a monkey, orange with an elk): a leak-proof lunchbox of 12.5 x 17 x 6.3 cm with a cooling pack in the lid. Put the cooling pack flat in the freezer for at least 8 hours, and food stays cool for up to 5 hours at room temperature. Includes a small container with lid and multi-cutlery fixed in the lid. Free from BPA, PVC and phthalates.
• Sandwich Box Kids (lime with a monkey, turquoise with a giraffe): a lightweight box of 80 grams and 14.5 x 13.8 x 5.3 cm, made from one piece. No loose lids to lose, and the hinged lid opens easily. Free from BPA and phthalates.

Both are suitable from 3 years. More from the brand is under the Carl Oscar lunchboxes for boys.

Prêt lunchboxes

The Prêt lunchboxes measure 16 x 13 x 5 cm and are made of polypropylene and polystyrene. The Eat Drink Repeat Lunchbox with a tiger has two compartments, one large and one small, so you can keep food separate. The Everyday Okey Lunchbox with a dino has a dark blue base that you can divide into compartments. A handy size for a few sandwiches or a snack in the park.

Sass & Belle metal lunchbox

The Endangered Animals lunchbox from Sass & Belle is made of metal (stainless steel) with a lid of PP and silicone, in white and blue. It's decorated with endangered animals in soft, earthy shades, and free from BPA. A lovely choice for children who love animals, and a nice reason to talk about nature together.

Which lunchbox do you choose?

• For preschoolers learning to eat on their own: the Skip Hop lunch kit, with easy clips and a separate snack container.
• For lunches that need to stay cool: the Carl Oscar N'ice Box with cooling pack.
• For sandwiches only: the light Carl Oscar Sandwich Box or a Prêt lunchbox.
• For those who prefer not to use a plastic box: the metal lunchbox from Sass & Belle.

Prefer lots of small compartments? Then see the bento lunchboxes for boys, which include the Yumbox bento lunchboxes for boys. The b.box lunchboxes for boys also have handy compartments.

Learning to eat independently

At daycare and primary school, your child needs to open and close the box on his own. Practise that at home a few times, especially with clips or a hinged lid. A box your child opens easily gives confidence and makes sure the lunch actually gets eaten. Let your son help choose the animal or colour too: a box he likes himself is one he'll happily take along.

What do you put in it?

A varied lunch consists of something with carbohydrates (a sandwich, wrap or crackers), vegetables, fruit and something with protein, such as cheese, egg or hummus. A few ideas:

• a wholemeal sandwich with cheese and a few cucumber slices;
• a mini wrap with chicken and lettuce;
• crackers with hummus and carrots;
• apple wedges, grapes or a mandarin in the snack container.

Small snacks for the morning break can go separately in one of the snack boxes for boys.

A lunchbox as a gift

A new lunchbox is a lovely gift for the first school day or a birthday. Choose an animal or character your son loves, and complete it with a matching drink bottle or lunch bag.

Cleaning

After use, rinse the lunchbox with warm water and a little washing-up liquid and let it dry well before closing it. For the Carl Oscar N'ice Box, first take the cooling pack out of the lid and put it back in the freezer. For the dishwasher, always check the packaging of your model, and don't leave food leftovers in the box overnight.

Complete the lunch set

A lunchbox stays cool and tidy in one of the lunch bags for boys. Send drinks along in a bottle from water bottles for boys. All lunchboxes, also for brothers and sisters, are under lunchboxes, and more for break time under lunch. Everything for the new school year is under school.
