Six compartments, cheerful monsters on the lid and a lunch that doesn't mix together: with the Yumbox bento lunchboxes for boys you pack a varied lunch in a few minutes. At Tiny Giggles you'll find the Yumbox Original with 6 compartments in two colours from the Funny Monsters series: Surf Blue and Wow Red. Thanks to the silicone seal, even yoghurt and dips stay in their own compartment. Below you can read how the Yumbox works and how to fill it cleverly.
The Yumbox bento lunchboxes for boys
- Yumbox Original Bento 6 Compartments Funny Monsters Surf Blue: blue.
- Yumbox Original Bento 6 Compartments Funny Monsters Wow Red: red.
Both lunchboxes are the same model; only the colour differs. They measure 22 x 15 x 5 cm and weigh 0.5 kg. The box is made of ABS plastic, the removable inner tray of Tritan and the lid of food-safe silicone. Everything is free of BPA, PVC and phthalates.
Six compartments, six ideas
The Yumbox Original has five compartments of 118 ml (half a cup) and a small round compartment for a snack or dip. That way you automatically pack a varied lunch, without everything ending up in one tub. An example:
- Compartment 1: half a sandwich or a wrap.
- Compartment 2: cucumber, carrot or pepper.
- Compartment 3: grapes, apple or mandarin.
- Compartment 4: yoghurt or apple sauce.
- Compartment 5: crackers or rice cakes.
- Round compartment: hummus, a dip or a few raisins.
A week of lunch ideas
- Monday: cheese sandwich, cherry tomatoes, apple, yoghurt, rice cake and a few raisins.
- Tuesday: chicken wrap, cucumber, grapes, apple sauce, crackers and hummus.
- Wednesday: pasta salad, pepper, mandarin, quark, breadsticks and a dip.
- Thursday: mini pancakes, carrot, banana, yoghurt, a wholegrain biscuit and nuts (if allowed at school).
- Friday: egg roll, cherry tomatoes, pear, apple sauce, crackers and a piece of cheese.
Vary with what your child likes and what you have at home. Check the school rules too, as some schools ask parents not to send nuts.
How much fits in?
With five half-cup compartments and a small extra one, the Yumbox Original is roomy enough for the lunch of a preschooler or school child. For a big eater, fill the compartments a little fuller or add an extra sandwich in a separate bag.
Leak-proof, but not for water
The silicone lid seals each compartment separately. That keeps wet food such as yoghurt, apple sauce or a dip neatly in its own compartment. Note: the Yumbox is not meant for thin liquids such as water or juice. Bring drinks in a separate water bottle.
Removable inner tray
The inner tray with the six compartments comes out. That makes the box easy to clean, and you can fill the tray the evening before and put it in the fridge. In the morning you click it into the box and lunch is ready. For extra trays and other parts, see the Yumbox lunchbox accessories for boys.
Funny Monsters: cheerful at the table
The Funny Monsters series turns lunch into a little party. Choose blue for a calm look or red for an eye-catching lunchbox your son recognises straight away in class. Because the model is the same, brothers can each choose their own colour and everyone knows which box is whose.
For active school days
Boys who play outside a lot, do sports or go to after-school care often have a big appetite. With six compartments you easily pack several small portions for a long day: something for the morning break, something for lunch and a snack for the afternoon. That way no separate snack box is needed. Want something extra anyway? Then see the snack boxes for boys.
Handy for picky eaters
Many children don't like their food touching. In a Yumbox everything is separate, which makes trying new things easier. Put one unfamiliar bite in the small round compartment, next to trusted favourites. That way your child discovers new flavours step by step.
Packing together
Let your son help decide what goes in the compartments. Give him a choice of two kinds of fruit and two kinds of vegetables, for example. Children often eat better what they've chosen themselves, and the lunchbox comes back full less often.
Keeping it cool
On warm days, it's best to keep the Yumbox in a cool lunch bag. A lunch bag with an ice pack keeps yoghurt and fruit fresh for longer. Nice models are under lunch bags for boys.
Cleaning
After every school day, take the inner tray out of the box, rinse everything and let the parts dry well. Clean the silicone lid thoroughly too so the seal keeps working properly. Keep the lid away from very hot places and don't use sharp objects, to protect the silicone.
