Lilac and purple are soft, calm colours that suit boys and girls alike. In this collection of purple baby clothes you'll find the BimbiDreams newborn sets in the Happy Days and Jurassic themes, each with purple as the main colour or as an accent. Every set has five pieces for the very first weeks. Below you can read what's in a set, how to dress a newborn easily and which variant suits you.
Each newborn set has five pieces:
The sets are made of 96% cotton and 4% elastane, are meant for 0 to 1 month and can be machine washed at 30 °C.
Newborns often don't like having something pulled over their head. That's why a wrap top is so handy: lay your baby on the top, fold the panels over and fasten it. Then put on the trousers, hat and scratch mittens. Lay everything out before you start so your baby isn't undressed for long. Dress your baby in a warm room, for example on the changing table.
Purple sits between pink and blue, which makes it a lovely neutral choice if you don't want the classic colours. Lilac looks soft and calm and goes beautifully with white, grey and beige. In the Jurassic sets, purple gets a bolder touch thanks to the combination with brown. That gives you both a soft and a slightly bolder variant in the same colour.
Choose the theme that matches the nursery. BimbiDreams also has bedding and accessories within the same themes, so you can create a matching look. See BimbiDreams.
The sets are meant for the first month. Babies differ in length and weight, and some grow out of them quickly. If you're expecting a big baby, or want to use the set longer, feel free to ask us about the fit. For the weeks after, you'll usually need the next size.
A newborn set is ideal for the hospital bag. Keep the set in its carry bag and you have a complete first outfit at hand. Also pack an extra bodysuit, just in case the first change goes wrong.
In the first weeks you change your baby often, and sometimes a feed or nappy goes wrong. Two or three complete sets are therefore handy, plus a few bodysuits. That way you always have a clean set ready while the other is in the wash. More basics are under baby clothing.
Want everything in the same colour? Combine a purple set with the purple bibs for spit-ups, and with soft leather slippers for warm feet. That gives you a complete outfit for visitors.
In the first weeks there are often lots of visitors, and the first photos are taken. A newborn set in a calm colour looks lovely then. Only put the set on just before the photos so it's still fresh, and keep a burp cloth at hand. A matching hat and scratch mittens make the photos look even more complete.
Wash the set at 30 °C before first use, with a mild, fragrance-free detergent. Wash purple and brown sets separately or with similar colours the first few times so they don't run. Dry the clothes flat or on a rack so they keep their shape. Always follow the washing instructions on the label.
Babies are born with thin, sharp nails and still move their hands involuntarily. That makes it easy for them to scratch their face. Scratch mittens prevent that. After a few weeks you can gently file or trim the nails with baby scissors; see baby care.
A hat is nice during the first days and outdoors, but don't let your baby sleep in it, because the head can get too warm. Put your baby to sleep in a bodysuit with a sleeping bag, without loose items in bed.
Tip: wash the clothes for the first weeks a little while before the due date and pack them in the carry bag. Everything is then fresh and ready when the time comes.
A newborn set in a carry bag is ready to give straight away. Purple is a lovely choice if you don't know the gender yet, and the carry bag means no wrapping is needed. More ideas are under baby gifts up to 25 euros.
