Elizabeth discovered the idea of reusable squeeze pouches during a stay in the United States, after the birth of her fifth child. She was immediately enthusiastic and decided to bring the concept to France: Squiz was born. Together with her husband Nicolas, she runs the brand. The range has since grown to include reusable snack bags. In France, Squiz was praised by Capital and Les Maternelles, and the squeeze pouches were voted "best innovation" at the Baby d'Or 2015 by visitors to the Babyshows.
The reusable squeeze pouches have a large opening at the bottom, so they are easy to fill and clean. You close the opening with a double zip that withstands 50 kg of pressure. That way nothing leaks, not even in the bag. You can store filled pouches in the fridge or freezer, and they are ideal for fruit purées, vegetable purées, yoghurt and smoothies.
The squeeze pouches are produced in Switzerland from 100% European materials, free from BPA, PVC and phthalates. One Squiz can be reused about 50 times on average. So a set of three replaces around 150 disposable pouches.
As well as the squeeze pouches there are the multifunctional snack bags, in sets of three. Each set contains three sizes: ideal for a handful of biscuits, a big bag of grapes to share or even toys and other small things. There is a gusset at the bottom that makes the bag roomier, and with the hook-and-loop closure even little ones can close the bag themselves if they don't finish their snack. The Squiz'top is a soft cap you put on the squeeze pouch, so your little one can eat from it more easily. It is made of flexible medical-grade silicone and meets European and US anti-choking standards. You get two in a set. The Squiz'top is not a toy: always use it under adult supervision.
Ready-made squeeze pouches are handy, but you throw them away after one use. With reusable pouches you choose what goes in: homemade fruit purée, yoghurt without added sugar or vegetables left over from dinner. You buy your apple sauce or yoghurt in a large pack and fill the pouches yourself, which saves money. You can also keep varying the flavours, and you cut down a lot of waste. That way you combine healthy eating and conscious living in an easy way. Don't make the filling too thick, so your child can easily squeeze the pouch empty. Prepare a few pouches at once and freeze them. Take one out of the freezer in the morning, and by lunchtime it will be thawed and nicely cool.
Thanks to the large opening at the bottom, the squeeze pouches are easy to clean. Rinse them straight after use, wash them with warm water and a little washing-up liquid, and let them dry upside down and open. That keeps the pouches fresh so you can use them about 50 times. The snack bags can go in the dishwasher or be washed by hand.
The pouches are light and take up little space. Put them in the changing bag, the school bag or a cooler bag on a warm day.
