A walk, a day at the grandparents' or a holiday: going out is easiest when you have the right things at hand. In the On the Go category you will find baby travel accessories for outings with your baby and trips with your toddler or preschooler: nappy bags, pacifier clips, baby carriers, pram accessories, snack boxes and cheerful kids' suitcases. Below you can read what you will find in each category, what to bring and how to head out relaxed.
Out and about with your baby
Under out with the baby you will find everything for short outings and long days away from home. A good nappy bag is the basis: with compartments for nappies, wipes, a bottle and a set of clean clothes, often with a changing mat included. With a pacifier clip, the dummy stays clean and does not get lost under a seat on the train. And with a few muslin cloths in the bag, you are ready for spit-ups, spills and sunshine that is just too bright.
Carrying and the pram
Many parents love to carry their baby close. Under baby carriers you will find carriers with a sturdy hip belt, and under baby wraps and slings soft wraps to tie your baby in. Prefer the pram or buggy? A stroller seat liner makes the seat softer and more cheerful, and a stroller organiser keeps your phone, keys and water bottle within reach. With stroller toys, your little one has something to see and do on the way. For cool or chilly days, put a soft baby blanket in the pram.
Food and drinks on the go
A hungry toddler on the go is no fun. So always bring something to eat. In snack boxes and fruit containers, crackers, fruit and raisins stay intact, and with compartments you keep everything neatly separated. A cooler bag keeps formula, yoghurt and fruit cool for longer on a warm day. Also bring a water bottle, especially in summer.
Travelling with children
Going on holiday, a sleepover or a weekend away? Under travel you will find everything to let your child bring their own things. A kids' suitcase with wheels and their favourite character makes packing a party. A trolley backpack can be pulled or carried on the back, handy at the airport and the station. A toiletry bag for kids fits a toothbrush, toothpaste and comb. Want everything in one go and in the same style? At build your travel set you choose a suitcase, backpack, lunch box, water bottle or snack box yourself. Choose 2 items and get 5% off, 3 items 10% and 4 or more items 15%.
Checklist: what to bring?
- Changing: nappies, baby wipes, a changing mat and a plastic bag for dirty nappies.
- Clothes: a set of clean clothes, an extra bodysuit and, depending on the weather, a hat or sun hat.
- Food and drink: milk or a bottle, a snack box with snacks and a water bottle.
- Comfort and fun: a dummy with a pacifier clip, a cuddly toy or comforter and a small toy.
- Handy: a few muslin cloths, children's sunscreen in summer and your own things in a fixed pocket of the bag.
What do you need by age?
- Baby (0 to 1 year): a nappy bag, a baby carrier or wrap, a pacifier clip, muslin cloths and a baby blanket for the pram.
- Young toddler (1 to 2 years): a snack box, a sippy cup or water bottle, a stroller seat liner and stroller toys.
- Toddler and preschooler (2 to 6 years): their own backpack or suitcase, a toiletry bag and a snack box for in between.
Safe on the go
Only use a pacifier clip when your child is awake and supervised, and remove it when your child goes to sleep. Never make a pacifier clip longer and do not hang it around the neck. In a carrier or wrap, your baby's face must always be visible and free, with the chin off the chest. Do not hang heavy bags on the pram handle, so the pram cannot tip over; use an organiser or the basket underneath instead. In the car, your child always sits in an approved car seat.
Tips for relaxed travel
Pack the nappy bag the evening before, so you forget less. On long journeys, plan enough breaks so your child can move around and you can change and feed. Bring something new to play with, like a book or a small toy: it often holds their attention longer than familiar toys. Let a toddler or preschooler help with packing. Their own suitcase or backpack with their favourite things gives confidence in a new place.
Packing light
With baby travel accessories you do not want to lug around a full bag you hardly use. So keep a fixed basic set in the nappy bag and top it up straight after every outing. That way the bag is always ready and you only need to add food and something extra. For longer trips, it helps to put one set of clothes per day in a small bag, so you do not have to search through the whole suitcase.
