ByKay was founded by Kay Poelen, a parent of four. For Kay, babywearing was indispensable: not only because it is practical, but above all because of the direct contact between parent and child. What started with a piece of fabric became a way of life. ByKay's goal is for as many parents and babies as possible to enjoy a relaxed life with a carrier or baby wrap. That is why ByKay designs carriers that are easy to put on and look good too.
The Click Carrier is quick and easy to put on, even if you have never carried a baby before. You can use it as a front, hip and back carrier. All versions are made of OEKO-TEX certified fabric and are ASTM certified.
The Classic is the simple basic version: suitable from birth to about 2 years, up to around clothing size 86 and about 15 kg. An attachment strap narrows the back panel for the smallest babies, and lets you carry your child on your back. It comes with a free sleeping hood, for protection or extra neck support.
Colours: Dark Jeans, a sturdy denim of cotton and linen, and Ribbed Velvet Berry Red, a soft ribbed velvet in deep red.
The Deluxe lasts the longest: from birth to 3 years, up to around clothing size 104 and 18 kg. The back panel is adjustable and grows with your child, the foam waist belt is extra sturdy and a neck cord gives optimal support. Loops keep loose straps tidy, and free foot rests are included.
Colours: Dark Jeans (cotton and linen) and Steel Grey (100% cotton).
The Reversible has two sides: black and minty grey. It is made of 100% cotton, suitable from birth to about 2 years and 15 kg, with loops for the straps and an attachment strap for the back panel.
Want to share the carrier with your partner? Agree who usually wears it and set it up for that person. The other adjusts the straps before use, and always checks afterwards that your baby is sitting well and high. That way everyone enjoys babywearing.
Newborn: carry your baby on your front, facing you. Narrow the back panel so your baby is well supported, and use the sleeping hood when your baby falls asleep.
A few months old: your baby is getting more curious. On your hip your little one can look around more.
Toddler: a heavier child is easier to carry on your back, for example on a long walk or when your child is tired of walking. The Deluxe is made for this, up to 3 years.
Make sure the carrier is snug, that you can always see your baby's face, that you can kiss the top of their head, that the chin is off the chest and that the back is well supported. The legs are spread, with the knees slightly higher than the bottom. Always read the instructions that come with your ByKay baby carrier.
Take a changing bag with everything you need, a muslin cloth for drool and a pacifier clip for the dummy. Dress your baby a little lighter than usual, because the carrier and your body heat count as a layer: see our baby clothing for layers. A carrier gets used a lot, so it has to cope with some drool and stains. Always check the label of your ByKay before washing. Close all fastenings before the carrier goes in the washing machine, so nothing catches on the fabric, and then let it air-dry. After washing, check that all straps and fastenings still work properly.
