With a Yumbox you pack a healthy, varied lunch in no time. Yumbox was created by Maia and Daniela, two well-travelled American mothers committed to developing healthy eating habits in children, in a fun way. Their inspiration came from the French school lunches Maia's children were served every day. In France the focus is on balance, variety, taste and nutrition. With their lunch box they wanted to make that balance easy for everyone, wherever you live. They designed a box with a bento-style tray, one lid that seals all compartments, illustrations of food groups that help with packing a balanced meal, and compartments that keep portions clear.
Maia and Daniela are both fans of Mediterranean cooking, with varied and balanced food. The box is fun to use and to pack, and meanwhile helps children develop healthy eating habits. Let your child help with the packing, and they will learn to make healthy choices through play. The boxes are easy to clean, and because you no longer need bags and tubs, you save money and reduce waste.
Children often eat with their eyes. A lunch where everything is neatly separated looks inviting, and nothing goes soggy from touching something else. The compartments also help you when packing: you can see at a glance whether there is vegetable, fruit, something with protein and something filling. Portions stay clear, so you don't give too much or too little. And because everything is in one box, you no longer need separate bags, tubs or foil. That saves waste and time in the morning. The Yumbox Original has six compartments and is ideal for a lunch with lots of variety: a main, vegetables, fruit, dairy and a small treat. The box is leakproof for yoghurt, apple sauce and dips, but not for water. The inner tray is removable. The box is made of ABS plastic, the inner tray of Tritan and the lid has food-safe silicone, all free from BPA, PVC and phthalates. Choose from Funny Monsters in Surf Blue or Wow Red, Mermaid in Malibu Purple or Power Pink, Race Cars in Roar Red or Surf Blue, and Unicorn in Power Pink or Purple.
The Panino has four compartments: handy if your child prefers a little less variety, or when a sandwich or wrap needs to come along. Like the Original, it is leakproof for yoghurt, apple sauce and dips, with a removable Tritan inner tray and a lid with food-safe silicone. Choose from Jungle Sage, Jurassic Green, Rainbow Power Pink and Unicorn Purple.
For a snack there is the Snacks, about 17 x 13 x 5 cm and 350 grams. It has three compartments: one of 240 ml, one of 180 ml and a small round one, about 2 cups in total. Perfect for fruit, crackers and a dip. Choose from Dinosaur in Jurassic Green or Surf Blue. You will find more under snack boxes and fruit containers.
Want to vary things or need an extra tray? There are separate Original Trays in Funny Monsters, Mermaid and Race Cars, and Panino Trays with Dinosaur or Shark, all about 22 x 15 x 5 cm. For the new school year you can easily put together a complete Yumbox school kit, for boys or girls. Combine a lunch box with a water bottle and a lunch bag, for example. That way your child has everything they need in one go, in matching colours, and you are done with the school things in one go. Take a look at create a school kit.
Take the inner tray out of the box and rinse it after use. The trays can go in the top rack of the dishwasher. Wash the lid and the outside with warm water and a little washing-up liquid, and let everything dry well before closing the box again. The lunch box cannot go in the microwave.
