A play mat is a soft, safe place where your baby can lie, look, grab and explore. Many play mats have a play arch with hanging toys, also called a baby gym or activity gym. Check the play arch and toys regularly for loose parts or damage. Keep batteries out of reach of children and check that the battery compartment is closed properly. Place the mat on a flat, clean floor, away from stairs and cables.
Most mats are machine washable. Always follow the care label, and remove electronic toys and batteries before washing. Wipe electronic toys and arches clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, without immersing them. Let everything dry well before your baby plays on it again.
