A musical mobile above the cot or playpen is often one of the first things a baby watches with fascination. The soft figures turn slowly while a calm tune plays. In this collection you will find musical mobiles from Jollein, with knitted and cotton animals in calm colours, and from Babyono, with cheerful owls, birds and aeroplanes. Below you can read what makes each mobile special, how to hang it safely and when to take it down again.
The Jollein musical mobiles have five soft toys with a cotton outside and a polyester fibre fill. They play the song 'You are my sunshine' for about 60 seconds and have a handy control panel. They are suitable from 0 months and fit nicely above the playpen. Choose from three themes:
Each theme belongs to a complete Jollein collection, so you can combine the mobile with other items in the same style.
The Babyono mobiles have a plastic arm with soft polyester toys and a music box with a soothing sound. With the special holder you attach the mobile to a travel cot or a wooden cot. It fits all Babyono cots and most travel cots. On a wooden cot, the bar or rail must be between 2 and 2.7 cm thick. Choose from:
Newborn babies do not see sharply yet, but moving shapes and contrasts do catch their attention. A mobile gives your baby something to look at, and following the turning figures is good practice for the eyes. The soft music can help them settle, for example as a fixed part of the bedtime routine. Many parents switch on the mobile when putting their baby to bed and let the tune play out softly. That way your baby learns to recognise the tune as a sign that it is time to sleep, even in another place such as at the grandparents'.
Attach the mobile firmly according to the instructions, so it cannot tilt or come loose. Hang the figures so your baby can see them well but cannot reach them. Regularly check that the clamp, the arm and the toys are still securely attached. Do not hang a mobile directly above your baby's head, but a bit more towards the middle of the cot or playpen, so your baby looks at it at an angle. That is more comfortable for the eyes.
A musical mobile is meant for looking at, not for playing with. Remove the mobile as soon as your baby pushes up on hands and knees or tries to sit up, often around 5 months. At that point your child can reach it and might try to pull on it. Do not put the loose toys in the cot afterwards: for a baby, an empty cot with a sleeping bag is safest. The toys are nice to play with under supervision or to put on a shelf.
Wipe the arm and the music box with a damp cloth. The soft toys can usually be hand washed carefully in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent; check the label first. Let them air-dry well before hanging them up again. Remove the batteries or the music box before cleaning anything.
A musical mobile goes nicely with the rest of the nursery. For a soft light at night there are night lights and projectors, and for a calm tune without a mobile there are music boxes. When your baby is awake, a play mat, rattles and soft cuddly toys are lovely to play with. On the go, your baby has something to look at with stroller toys. You will find all toys under play.
