NUK

NUK is a well-known German brand for baby care and feeding that has been making products for the first years of life for decades. At Tiny Giggles you will find handy NUK spoons for baby food jars and a complete care set with a thermometer, nail scissors, brush, comb and bath sponge. Practical essentials you use every day. Below you can read what makes each product special, how to use them and how to keep them clean.

NUK spoons for baby food jars

The NUK spoons for baby food jars are extra long, so you can easily reach the bottom of a jar or a deep bowl. The spoons are round and soft, which makes them gentle on your baby's gums and first teeth. The handle is flexible and non-slip, so the spoon sits comfortably in your hand while feeding. You get two spoons per set, in blue, yellow or purple. They are BPA-free, suitable from 6 months and safe on the top rack of the dishwasher.

NUK care set

The NUK care set contains five handy products for your baby's daily care:

• Digital thermometer: with a flexible tip, a quick reading in about 10 seconds and a beep when the reading is done. Comes with a travel case.
• Nail scissors: with rounded tips and a protective cover, for the tiniest nails.
• Brush and comb: with soft, supple bristles and rounded teeth, gentle on the sensitive scalp.
• Baby sponge: hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, suitable for the most sensitive skin.

A great basis for the first weeks, and a practical baby gift too.

First tastes

Around 6 months, many babies start with their first tastes. At first you give small amounts of smooth vegetable or fruit purée, and slowly build up to coarser textures. A soft, round spoon makes it easier for your baby to learn to eat from a spoon. Let your little one sit upright, for example in a high chair, and always stay with them while they eat. Offer the spoon calmly and let your baby open their mouth themselves. It is normal for a lot to come back out at first: eating from a spoon is something your baby has to learn.

Why a long spoon?

Using ready-made baby food jars or homemade purée in a tall bowl? Then a regular baby spoon is often just too short, and your fingers end up in the jar. With the extra-long handle of the NUK spoon you reach the last bite effortlessly and your hands stay clean. Also handy for yoghurt and quark from a deep pot.

Taking a temperature

A digital thermometer is an essential in every baby household. Always follow the thermometer's instructions and clean it after every use. Does your baby have a fever, is your baby younger than 3 months, or are you worried? Then contact your GP or health visitor.

Trimming nails

Baby nails grow fast and are sharp, so your baby can scratch themselves. Trim the nails preferably when your baby is asleep or calm, for example after the bath, when the nails are soft. Hold the hand firmly, press the fingertip down slightly and cut the nail straight. With the rounded tips of the NUK scissors you trim safely.

What do you need in the first weeks?

You do not need much to care for a newborn, but a few basics make it a lot easier. Think of a thermometer, nail scissors with rounded tips, a soft brush and comb, a soft sponge or wash mitts for the bath, muslin cloths and a changing mat. With the NUK care set you have a large part of that at home in one go, neatly together.

Handy on the go

Going to stay somewhere or on holiday? The thermometer comes in a travel case and the scissors have a protective cover, so you can safely take them along in the toiletry bag or changing bag. The NUK spoons fit in a lunch box or snack box, handy when you give a jar of baby food on the go.

Cleaning

The spoons can go on the top rack of the dishwasher, or wash them in warm water with a little washing-up liquid. Clean the thermometer after every use according to the instructions and keep it in its case. Wash the brush and comb now and then in lukewarm water with a little baby shampoo, and let the sponge dry well after use.

More for mealtime

Combine the NUK spoons with a kids' bowl or children's plate with suction, and a bib for eating. For fresh fruit, a fresh food feeder is handy. You will find more spoons and forks under kids' cutlery, and everything for meals under mealtime.

More for baby care

Under care you will find everything for daily care. Think of a separate baby brush and comb, nail scissors and things for the bathroom. Tigex also has handy care products and baby spoons.

Tips for calm care moments

• Have everything ready: so you never have to leave your baby alone on the changing table.
• Choose a calm moment: after the bath or when your baby is sleepy, care is often easiest.
• Talk and sing: a familiar voice helps your baby relax.
• Always a hand on your baby: even when you reach for something.
