Smallstuff is a Danish brand that loves colours and fun designs. With its products it aims to inspire children and their creativity, in a cheerful and childlike way. About Smallstuff

Smallstuff designs both clothing and interior items for children, and likes to use natural materials such as cotton and wood. The brand works with colours you can mix and match endlessly. You see that in the bibs too: the prints come in different models, so you can combine a small bib and a sleeved bib in the same print, for example.

Material: waterproof and soft

All Smallstuff bibs have a nylon front and a soft terry back. The front is stain-resistant, waterproof and quick-drying, so yoghurt, porridge or sauce doesn't soak through to the clothes. After the meal you simply wipe the bib clean with a damp cloth. The terry back feels soft on the neck and on clothing.

Which bib for which age?

• From 6 months, for the first bites: a small bib, with or without catch pocket. Small enough for a baby in the high chair.
• When your child starts eating independently: a bib with catch pocket. Whatever falls off the spoon lands in the pocket instead of on the floor.
• Toddlers who love to make a mess (1 to 4 years): the sleeved bib. It protects the arms too, ideal for spaghetti, painting or crafts.

• Elephants: little elephants on dark blue, cool and timeless.

Tips for the first bites

The first meals with solid food are often a celebration, but also a mess. Sit your baby upright in the high chair, put the bib on before you pick up the bowl, and keep a damp cloth or a muslin cloth at hand. Let your little one explore and taste calmly; spilling is part of it. With a waterproof bib with catch pocket, clothes stay clean and you tidy up quickly afterwards.

Safe use

Only use a bib while your child is awake and you're with them. Take the bib off after the meal, and never let your child sleep in it. Check that the ties or snaps are secure, but not too tight around the neck. With the tie models, tie them firmly in a bow so they don't hang loose.

Washing and care

After an ordinary meal, wiping with a damp cloth is often enough. Is the bib due for a wash? Then wash it separately at 30°C. Let it air dry afterwards; thanks to the quick-drying material, it's soon ready for the next meal. Tip: hang the bib with catch pocket up after use, so the pocket can dry properly.

How many bibs do you need?

Because the Smallstuff bibs wipe clean quickly, you need fewer than fabric bibs. Two or three usually get you through a day: one for breakfast and lunch, and one for dinner or daycare. A sleeved bib is handy as an extra for craft moments or a messy meal.
