Trolley backpacks

A trolley backpack is a backpack on wheels: your child pulls it like a trolley, or simply carries it on their back. At Tiny Giggles you will find cheerful trolley backpacks for kids with favourite characters from Disney, Marvel, Paw Patrol, Miraculous and Bluey, and a cool dino backpack by Skooter. Ideal for travel, a sleepover or the first day of school.

Why a trolley backpack?

Children love taking their own things along, but a full backpack quickly gets heavy. With a trolley backpack that does not have to be a problem. At the airport, on the platform or in a long corridor, your child simply pulls the backpack along. If the path gets bumpy, there are stairs or you get on the bus, it goes on their back just as easily. That way your child always has the best of both worlds.

What is more, children love pulling their own luggage, just like mum and dad. That makes travelling a lot more fun and more independent.

Our trolley backpacks

Compact trolley backpacks for preschoolers

For young children there are compact trolley backpacks of about 32 to 33 cm high, 25 to 26 cm wide and 10 to 11 cm deep. They have a zipped main compartment and a loop at the top. Choose from:

• Minnie Mouse Fashion Besties: a pink 3D backpack with Minnie and adjustable shoulder straps.
• Bluey Oh Happy Days: a blue 3D backpack with Bluey.
• Bluey and Paw Patrol Brave And Courageous: in blue and red, for fans of Bluey and the Paw Patrol pups.
• Miraculous Super Heroes: a red and black backpack with Ladybug and adjustable shoulder straps.

Larger trolley backpacks

For older children there are models of about 38 x 28 cm. The Cars 3 Piston Cup trolley backpack has a red 3D Cars design, the Disney Princess Magical Dreams is pink with an extra zipped front pocket, and the Marvel Avengers Safety Shield is grey with an Avengers shield and a front pocket. All three have adjustable shoulder straps.

The largest is the Skooter Dinogames trolley backpack of 57 x 42 x 21 cm, with a main compartment, a front pocket and two side pockets. Roomy enough for a weekend sleepover or as hand luggage for an older dino fan.

All trolley backpacks are made of sturdy polyester that is easy to wipe clean.

What to look for in a trolley backpack

• Size: for preschoolers choose a compact backpack of around 32 cm; older children can manage a larger model.
• Weight: the lighter the empty backpack, the more your child can carry themselves.
• Pockets: a front or side pocket is handy for a drink bottle, tissues or a small toy.
• Shoulder straps: adjustable straps make the backpack sit well when your child carries it.
• Character: with their favourite hero, your child will happily pull the backpack themselves.

Kind to the back

A full school bag or weekend bag can be quite heavy for small children. By pulling the bag instead of carrying it, your child does not have to keep lifting the weight onto their shoulders. On a long walk to the station or through the terminal, that really makes a difference. If your child does carry it on their back, set both shoulder straps to the same length and do not pack more than needed. That way it stays light and comfortable for your child.

Travelling with a trolley backpack

A trolley backpack is ideal hand luggage for children. Your child takes their own cuddly toy, book, colouring things and a snack, and has everything within reach during the journey. Always check the hand luggage rules with your airline, as permitted sizes differ per airline.

Is your child going away for longer? Combine the trolley backpack with a kids suitcase in the same theme for the bigger things, and a toiletry bag for toothbrush and toothpaste. You can also put together a complete travel set in one go. You will find more for the journey under on the go.

To school or nursery

A trolley backpack is also handy for school, especially if your child has a bit of a walk. The compact models have room for a lunch box, drink bottle and a book. Also take a look at our backpacks and school bags if you prefer an ordinary backpack without wheels.

Trolley backpacks for boys and girls

Looking for a trolley backpack in a particular style? Take a look at our trolley backpacks for girls, with Minnie Mouse, princesses and Ladybug, or our trolley backpacks for boys, with Cars, the Avengers, dinos and Paw Patrol. Of course every child can choose what they like best.

Tips for use and care

1. Let your child try the backpack at home first, so they get used to pulling and carrying it.
2. Pack heavy items at the bottom, close to the wheels, so the backpack stays stable.
3. Adjust the shoulder straps so the backpack sits high on the back.
4. Wipe the backpack clean with a damp cloth after use and let it dry open.
5. Check the wheels and zip now and then, especially after a holiday.

A trolley backpack with a favourite character is a gift children are really happy with, for example for a birthday, Christmas or just before the summer holidays.
