A bottle with straw makes drinking easy and fun for toddlers and preschoolers. Your child drinks by themselves, without tipping or spilling, and the bottle goes everywhere: to nursery, school, the playground or on holiday. At Tiny Giggles you will find the cheerful Zoo drinking bottles by Skip Hop, with a unicorn, flamingo, butterfly or fox.
Drinking from an open cup is still tricky for young children: it is easy to spill. With a straw your child drinks sitting upright, in small sips and at their own pace. Many children also simply enjoy drinking through a straw, so they drink more often. That is great, because drinking enough is important, especially when your child plays actively or it is warm. A bottle with a straw is handy on the go too: you don't have to look for a cup, and your child can drink whenever they are thirsty.
The Skip Hop Zoo straw bottles hold 380 ml and are suitable from 18 months. The straw is flexible and soft, so it is pleasant to drink from. With the handy strap you can hang the bottle on a bag, pushchair or backpack. The bottles are dishwasher safe and free of BPA, phthalates and PVC. Choose from four cheerful animals:
The animals from Skip Hop's Zoo collection also appear on backpacks and lunch bags, so it is easy to put together a matching set.
The Skip Hop Zoo bottles are suitable from 18 months. Around that age many children are already used to drinking from a cup or sippy cup, and can easily switch to a straw. Let your child practise calmly at first: sucking on a straw doesn't always come naturally straight away. A handy tip is to practise together with an ordinary straw in a glass first, so your child understands how it works. Most children get the hang of it quickly. Praise your child when it works, and make it a game: who can take the longest sip? That way practising becomes fun by itself.
With 380 ml the bottle is big enough for a morning at nursery or school, or an afternoon at the playground. Yet it stays light and easy to handle, so your child can carry and hold it themselves. On a warm day or during a long outing, simply top it up with water. Water is the best thirst quencher for children. Avoid sugary drinks, also from a straw.
Many children forget to drink when they are busy playing. So keep the bottle in a fixed, visible place, for example on the table or next to the toys. Offer a drink at set moments, such as after getting up, at mealtimes and after playing outside. Let your child fill the bottle or choose the water themselves; that makes drinking extra fun. An own bottle with a favourite animal helps too: children pick it up more often by themselves.
In the car, on the train or on a plane, a bottle with a straw is handy, because your child can drink without spilling everything over their clothes. Take an extra bottle of water to top up when travelling, and keep the bottle within reach. With the strap you can attach the bottle to the pushchair or a bag, so it doesn't roll on the floor or get lost.
An own bottle with a recognisable animal is handy at nursery or school: your child sees straight away which bottle is theirs. Also write your child's name on the bottle. Hang the bottle on the backpack with the strap, or put it upright in the side pocket. Combine the bottle with a lunch box or bento lunch box and a lunch bag, and your child has everything for break time together. You will find more under lunch and school.
The Skip Hop Zoo bottles are dishwasher safe. Take the straw out before washing, so all parts get properly clean. Rinse the bottle after use and let it dry open to keep it fresh. Don't leave milk or juice in the bottle for long, especially not in the sun. Check the straw regularly: if it has a crack or is damaged, replace it. The Butterfly comes with an extra straw straight away.
Don't let young children walk or run around with the straw in their mouth. Check the bottle and straw for damage before each use. Only hang the bottle by its strap on a bag or pushchair, never around your child's neck. Preferably use the bottle for water or milk, and don't let your child fall asleep with a bottle in their mouth.
