Silicone is soft, flexible and pleasant to the touch. A silicone mat slides less easily across the table, can't break and is easy to clean. Food-grade silicone is suitable for contact with food, so it's no problem if a piece of fruit lands straight on the mat. A silicone mat also takes up little space: you can roll it up or lay it flat in a drawer.
When your child starts on solids, they love to explore: pieces of banana, steamed broccoli or a rice cake get grabbed, squashed and tasted.
