A flat case fits easily in a folder or a slim school bag. The Disney Minnie Mouse Pencil Case with 2 Zips and the Harry Potter Gryffindor Large Pencil Case are about 22.5 cm wide and very flat. The Zip & Zoe Unicorn has a handle with Velcro and a name tag where you write your child's name. The Minnie Mouse Bubble is nice and flat too.
Tidy the case once a week: sharpen the pencils, throw away broken pens and top up what has run out. Also ask the teacher what is needed in class.
Pencil shavings and ink quickly make a case dirty. Shake it out regularly and wipe the inside with a damp cloth. The Hype cases should only be wiped clean. For the other models, always check the label for the best way to wash them. Put your child's name on it, because many cases look alike in class.
An overfull pencil case breaks sooner: the zip comes under strain and tears. So don't put more in than needed. Always put the caps back on felt-tips, so they don't dry out and the inside stays clean. A sharpener with a container prevents shavings in the bag. With a triple case you can give each compartment a fixed job: pencils and eraser in one, colouring pencils in the second, felt-tips in the third. That way your child learns to work neatly, and doesn't have to search in class.
