A newborn mainly follows things with their eyes. Gently shake the toy next to their head, so your little one looks for the sound. Around 3 months the hands open more and your baby tries to grab things. A light one that is easy to hold is ideal then. Always let your baby play under supervision. Check the toy regularly for loose seams, cracks or loose parts, and replace it if you see any damage. Don't use it in the cot while your baby sleeps, and never hang it on a cord around the neck.
