Laundry baskets

Looking for a cute baby laundry basket for the nursery or kids room? At Tiny Giggles you will find the cheerful laundry baskets by 3 Sprouts, shaped like a deer or a polar bear. They keep dirty laundry neatly out of sight, are easy to carry to the washing machine and make a lovely decoration too. That way you tidy away your little one's clothes quickly and happily every day.

Why a baby laundry basket in the nursery?

With a baby in the house, the washing machine works overtime. Bodysuits, bibs, burp cloths, sheets and muslins: a big pile of laundry is added every day. A laundry basket of its own in the nursery stops all those little clothes from wandering around the house. You drop a dirty bodysuit straight into the basket while changing your baby, and the baby laundry stays separate from the rest. That is handy, because baby clothes are often washed separately with a mild detergent.

For older children, a laundry basket of their own is a nice first step towards independence. A basket that looks like a friendly animal invites them to throw dirty clothes in themselves instead of on the floor.

The 3 Sprouts laundry baskets

3 Sprouts is a Canadian brand that makes cheerful, practical products for the kids room, with animal designs as its signature. The 3 Sprouts laundry basket comes in two versions:

• Laundry basket Deer: a brown deer with sweet ears, warm and natural in colour.
• Laundry basket Polar Bear: a blue polar bear, fresh and calm in the room.

Both baskets measure about 48 x 56 x 28 cm and are made of sturdy polyester with a filling of expanded polypropylene. This keeps the basket nicely in shape, even when it is almost empty.

Clever design

The handles of the 3 Sprouts laundry basket fold shut to form a round opening, so dirty laundry disappears stylishly out of sight. When it is time to wash, fold the handles open and carry the basket to the washing machine. The base has a breathable mesh fabric, so air can reach the laundry and damp clothes are less likely to smell musty. Not using the basket for a while, for example on holiday? Fold it flat to save space.

Easy to clean

Wipe the outside clean with a damp cloth. That way it stays looking good for a long time, even if it gets a stain now and then.

What to look for in a kids laundry basket

• Size: a basket of around 50 cm high fits next to the changing table or in a corner and holds a few days of baby laundry.
• Handles: sturdy handles make it easy to carry the basket to the washing machine.
• Ventilation: a breathable base or side prevents musty smells.
• Foldable: a basket that folds flat is easy to store when you do not need it.
• Style: choose a design that suits the rest of the room, so the basket is a nice decoration too.

Tips for washing baby clothes

Baby skin is sensitive, so the laundry deserves a little extra attention:

1. Always wash new baby clothes, sheets and muslin cloths before using them for the first time.
2. Use a mild, fragrance-free detergent and preferably no fabric softener.
3. Check the care label: a lot of baby clothing can be washed at 30 or 40 °C, sheets and cloths often warmer.
4. Rinse stains of milk, fruit or poo out with cold water as soon as possible before the clothes go in the basket.
5. Let wet items, such as a hooded towel or bib, dry first before putting them in the basket. That prevents mould and smells.
6. Wash baby laundry separately from sportswear or very dirty laundry.

How much laundry goes through each week?

It helps to know how much laundry to expect. A baby quickly uses several bodysuits and outfits a day, plus bibs, burp cloths and washcloths. On top of that you regularly change the sheets and sometimes a baby blanket after a leaky nappy. That is why many parents run a small baby wash every other day in the first months. A roomy basket in the nursery itself saves you walking back and forth.

A tidy kids room

A fixed place for everything makes life with a baby a lot calmer. Put the laundry basket next to the changing table so you can drop dirty clothes straight in while changing. Also use storage baskets for toys, cuddly toys and clean nappies to keep the room tidy. Choose baskets in the same colours or with the same animal theme for a calm look. Short on space? A foldable basket is ideal: when you do not need it, fold it flat and slide it behind a cupboard or under the bed. You will find more handy products for looking after your baby under care.

A basket that grows along

A cheerful basket lasts for years. In the baby years it stands next to the changing table, later in the room of your toddler or preschooler. Children often love throwing their dirty clothes into the mouth of the deer or polar bear. Make a game of it: who can throw their socks in first time? That way your child learns to tidy up while playing.

A laundry basket is a practical baby gift that is used every day, and with the 3 Sprouts animal design it is fun to give too. Combine the basket with a few muslin cloths or a bodysuit for a complete gift. Our wrapping service makes the present look festive.
