The Dutch brand Petit Monkey makes imaginative home accessories and must-haves for children. Think of night lights shaped like a seahorse or an owl, placemats with a koala, soft cushions, drinking bottles and a bento lunch box. The collection is inspired by the colourful world of children and made in collaboration with illustrators. The night lights give a soft LED light and switch off automatically after 60 minutes, so they don't stay on all night. They are made of PVC and come with 3 LR44 batteries included. Choose from:
A soft light helps at bedtime and gives just enough light for a night feed or a nappy change, without lighting up the whole room. Many children like falling asleep with a familiar character next to the bed. Because the light switches off by itself after an hour, you don't have to go back into the room to turn it off. The placemats with a koala are made of 100% silicone, about 46.5 x 32 cm, BPA-free and LFGB-safe, so they are safe to use with food. Choose from blush pink or mint. Silicone is easy to wipe clean and protects the table from crumbs and spills. After the meal, wipe the placemat with a damp cloth or rinse it under the tap, and it is ready for the next meal. The stainless steel bottles are BPA-, lead- and phthalate-free. You will find more choice under thermos bottles and drinking bottles.
The cushions are made of 100% organic cotton with a polyester filling. The Mermaid cushion in blue and green is about 40 x 20 x 3 cm, the Fish cushion in pink and blue about 47 x 22 x 2.5 cm. The bath and teething toys are made of 100% natural rubber and free of BPA, PVC, phthalates and nitrosamines. Leo the lion in mustard is about 9 x 13 x 5 cm, Zippy in black and white about 12 x 13 x 5 cm. Your little one can chew on them when the teeth are coming through and play with them in the bath. The pencil cases are about 20 x 9 x 8 cm and made of rPET, recycled polyester. Choose from Jelly in soft pink or Wolves in blue. Handy for pencils and felt-tip pens, and easy to find in the school bag. You will find more under pencil cases.
The nice thing about a brand with recognisable designs is that it is easy to combine things. The night lights work with button cell batteries (LR44). Always keep batteries out of reach of children and check that the battery compartment is closed properly. Place the light where your little one cannot reach it, and don't use it as a toy. Check teething toys regularly for cracks or damage, and replace them when needed. Always let your little one play under supervision.
