A cool pencil case for boys keeps pens, pencils, eraser and ruler neatly together, and makes the school bag instantly more personal. At Tiny Giggles you will find pencil cases with Spider-Man, Captain America, Cars, Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter and The Mandalorian, but also cool designs from Hype and ProDG and cheerful animals from Sass & Belle and Petit Monkey. From a small one-compartment case to a roomy one with three compartments. Below you can read which types there are and how to choose the right one.
Which types of pencil cases are there?
- Single case: one roomy zipped compartment, such as the Spider-Man Be Strong and Protector (7 x 20 x 7 cm) or the Avengers Armor Up. Light and handy for younger children.
- Double case: two compartments, each with its own zip, such as the Cars 3D Double and the Mandalorian Double (22 x 9.5 x 8 cm). Felt tips stay separate from eraser and sharpener.
- Triple case: three compartments for lots of stationery, such as the Captain America Triple, Spider-Man Comic Triple and ProDG Nature Triple (23 x 11 x 7 cm).
- Flat case: such as the large Harry Potter Gryffindor case (22.5 x 15.5 cm), which slides easily into a folder or backpack.
With favourite heroes
Superhero fans choose from the Marvel cases, with comic-style Spider-Man, Captain America and the Avengers. Car lovers go for Disney Cars with Lightning McQueen, and little fans pick Mickey Mouse. For young wizards there are the dark red Gryffindor cases from Harry Potter, in faux leather, and Star Wars fans grab the green Mandalorian case from Star Wars.
Cool designs without a character
Prefer no character? The British brand Hype makes cases with striking prints such as camouflage, paint splats and speckles, with a capacity of 1.2 litres: plenty of room for a good supply of pens. They are made of polyester and simply wipe clean. The cases from ProDG have skate and nature designs, such as the grey Skelet case and the colourful Sumatra.
Cheerful animals
For younger children there are sweet animal cases. The Kawaii Friends cases from Sass & Belle feature a panda or fox, and the Roarsome Dinosaurs case is full of dinos. The Wolves case from Petit Monkey is made of recycled PET.
For reception and the first school years
In the first years of school, children often do not need much stationery yet: a few pencils, colouring pencils and an eraser. A small, light case with one compartment and a big zip is ideal. Your child learns to open and close the case and put things away neatly. A cheerful character such as Mickey Mouse, Cars or a dinosaur makes going to school extra fun.
For older children
Older children need more: pens in different colours, highlighters, a protractor, a compass and sometimes a calculator. A case with two or three compartments keeps that organised. Older children often prefer a cool design without a character, such as the Hype or ProDG cases, or a case with a hero they have followed for years.
How do you choose the right one?
- Age: preschoolers and young children are fine with a small one-compartment case. Older children with more stationery choose a double or triple case.
- What goes in: only pencils and an eraser, or also felt tips, a calculator and a ruler? A 30 cm ruler only fits in a large, flat case.
- Material: polyester is light and sturdy, faux leather (as with Harry Potter) is extra easy to wipe clean.
- Zip: a sturdy zip with a large pull opens more easily for small hands.
What goes in a pencil case?
A good basis for primary school: two or three pencils, an eraser, a sharpener with a container, a short ruler, some colouring pencils or felt tips and a glue stick. Older children often add a fountain pen or ballpoint, a highlighter and a set square. If in doubt, ask the teacher what is needed.
Keeping it tidy
Empty the case completely now and then and shake it out over the bin, so shavings and eraser crumbs disappear. Has a pen leaked? Wipe the inside with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. The Hype cases are wipe-clean only: they do not belong in the washing machine.
Tip: add a name
Superheroes and cool prints are popular, so chances are a classmate has the same case. Write your child's name on a label inside or attach a keyring to the zip.
