For a newborn girl
In the first weeks everything revolves around caring, feeding and cuddling. A gift that helps with that gets used straight away. Think of the Jollein Comforter Deer Pale Pink, the nuuroo Arie Comforter Woodrose or the Babyono Owl Celeste Comforter. Washcloths are a clever choice too: the Jollein Terry Washcloth Pale Pink or the Babyono Pink Washcloths (3 pieces with a sponge) are used every day. After her bath, wrap her in a hooded towel such as the Babyono Bamboo Pink Unicorn (76 x 76 cm) or the Pippi organic hooded towel old rose (83 x 83 cm). You'll find more choice among the hooded towels and the washcloths and wipes.
Prefer something to wear? The Bibikidz Newborn Girl Bodysuit and the leather baby slippers from Orangenkinder, such as Lina the Kitten or Birdie the Bird, are sweet first clothing gifts. The EN FANT Suede Baby Slippers Old Rose are a soft, simple alternative.
From 3 to 6 months: discovering
At around three months a baby starts to grab, look and listen. A rattle or squeaky toy fits that stage perfectly. The nuuroo Anton Rattle Bunny Woodrose and the Babyono Rainbow Flower Rattle are lovely first toys. The Babyono Squeaker Bear Suzie squeaks when she squeezes it. Sensory books, like the Babyono Go To The Ocean Sensory Book, let her discover different fabrics and colours. Also take a look at the rattles and the activity books.
For outings, pram toys are handy, such as the Sass & Belle Sweet Dreams Cloud or the Babyono Toucan Titi Pram Toy. That way she has something to look at during a walk.
From 6 to 12 months: first bites
At around six months many babies start eating solid food. That calls for new things. The Hello Kitty b.box Sippy Cup Candy Floss (6m+) and the b.box Sippy Cup Raspberry (6m+) are popular first cups. With a fresh food feeder, such as the b.box Silicone Fresh Food Feeder Peony or Blush, she can taste soft fruit safely. Always use a feeder while your little one is awake and you are with her. Also see the children's cups and mugs.
Eating means mess, so a bib is always welcome. The Pink n Pretty Bandana Bibs (set of 3) and the Meyco Bibs Dots Pink/Dots Black (set of 2) are great for drooling days. For first shoes there are the Baby Ballerinas Pink With Hearts or the baby sneakers pink with flower print. You'll find every type among the bibs.
From 1 to 2 years: doing it herself
A toddler wants to do more and more herself: eat by herself, drink by herself and explore the world. A smock bib, like the b.box Smock Bib Strawberry Shake (6-18M), protects her arms too. After the bath a poncho is lovely, such as the nuuroo Adelin Bath Poncho Pink or the Jollein Terry Bath Poncho Miffy Jacquard Wild Rose. For outdoors a sun hat is a smart gift: the Nordic Hat SPF 50 Rose or the FlapJackKids Reversible Kids Sun Hat Butterfly|Flowers. A hat is for outdoors and daytime, not for sleeping. Also browse the children's hats and bath ponchos.
For preschoolers from 2 to 4 years
Preschoolers already have their own taste. They like to choose an animal or character they recognise. The Sass & Belle Betty The Unicorn Rug or the Freya Swan Rug turns the nursery into a place of her own. A night light, such as the Petit Monkey night light seahorse mint or the Sass & Belle Alma Narwhal Night Light, helps at bedtime. Cartoon fans will love the Disney Frozen II Kids' Socks or the Paw Patrol Girls' Kids' Socks (5 pairs). Also see the rugs.
Choosing colour and motif
Many gifts for girls come in pink, old rose or lilac, but mint green, ochre and white are popular too. Not sure about the parents' taste? Then choose a calm colour such as off-white or sand. Animals, flowers and stars almost always go down well. A present in a neutral colour can later be used by a little brother or sister as well.
Safe sleep
Giving a blanket, cuddly toy or cushion? In the first year nothing loose belongs in the cot: no blanket, pillow or cuddly toy. Your baby sleeps safely in a sleeping bag. During that time a blanket is lovely in the pram or playpen, while your little one is awake and you are nearby. A dummy clip is also for daytime use only.
Prefer a gift box?
Can't choose? Pick a ready-made box from the gift boxes for girls, or put one together yourself with build your own gift box. That way you can combine, for example, a comforter, a bib and a washcloth in one present.
